What's going on here?

No need for lots of words. A really well detailed layout with lots of little details to find and enjoy.
Inspiration for terrain builders. I have a hankering to wargame over this terrain. A German paratroop raid perhaps?

ABERDEEN MODEL RAILWAY CLUB EXHIBITION 2015.

Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2015 saw my annual trip to the AMRC exhibition. As usual, there were a selection of well built displays with a smattering of interest groups and layouts under construction.

The first table encountered was the display by the Elgin Club. It featured a line from a whisky distillery to a mainline station. More in a future post.

This house is a veteran of several displays over 11 years.

Next up, Pentland Model Railway Group's Caithreay layout.

This is a family based group who tour all the shows. Indeed they had overcome a domestic crisis to attend the show.

I ended up spending my usual amount on painting and other tools at the Squires stand. I also picked up some Vallejo paints and 4Ground terrain at ABZ Games. I attended both days because I had to pass some goodies to my mat, Iain, who had actually managed to get two days off to attend the show for the first time in two years.

It is always an entertaining day (or two) out. Next year is provisionally 29/30 October 2015.

ABERDEEN RAILWAY MODEL CLUB EXHIBITION 2014.

Another week, another show! Fortunately this one was within walking distance. I have been a regular attender at the Aberdeen Model Railway Club Exhibition for the last dozen or so years. This is the fourth year that it has been held in the sports hall at the Robert Godon University.

This display is made from simple card buildings.

Second hand and recycled engines, rolling stock and track.

It shows what can be done on a budget.

Disapointingly, the Museum of Transport display did not travel north this year. Just as well. Having taken a lot of pictures at Skelp! last week and during the week, my battery died on me. I was not able to take photos of the dolls houses, transport collections and the Embroderers Guild display, which had a wonderful embriodered armour breastplate on show.

I was there late morning, when there was not a huge attendance, and was able to visit the traders. I made a dent in Squires stock (as usual) and picked up some resin walls from Aberdour MR Co. It was good to see Mutineer miniatures attending, although they only had scenics on their stall.

By all accounts, it was a busy afternoon. This is a really good show for all the family.
